Feliani (FKIP ’18) and Leonardo (Hukum ’17), debaters of Untan, participated in Pre-World University Debating Championship on 26th-30th December 2020. Both of them broke 5th in EFL category and finished it off as EFL Grand Finalist. The competition was held online through Zoom and Discord platform.
On September, the two were crowned champion of National University Debating Championship (NUDC) making them the official representative of Indonesia for the World University Debating Championship (WUDC) which is held annually on December-January. This year, the competition is hosted by Debate Korea and took place in Goyang, South Korea.
The initial competition is postponed due to the increasing COVID-19 around the globe. Posing public health threat if to continue as plan. WUDC will then be held on July 2021 in South Korea.
“It was a learning experience for us both as preparation for Worlds as well as our first experience in the international debate scene,” said Leonardo.
Leo and Feli are excited to be able to represent Untan in the international debate competition. They added that they are able to participate in debate competitions through their membership in Debating Union Tanjungpura University for these past two years.
