Untan Strengthens Cooperation with UiTM, Answers Common Problems in Kalimantan
PONTIANAK – Rector of Untan, Prof. Dr. Garuda Wiko, S.H., M.Si., welcomed the Rector of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, Prof. Dato Dr. Jamil bin Hamali with the leadership and a number of staff located in the rectorate building of Universitas Tanjungpura on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Rector Untan expressed his gratitude for the visit of the Rector of UiTM with his entourage. Prof. Garuda also hopes that there will be an increase in cooperation between Untan and UiTM which has been running well. In addition, the Rector of Untan also hopes that there will be cooperation to answer the current issues of global energy and climate change issues, especially the same issues for people on the island of Kalimantan.
“Hopefully, this meeting will be able to increase cooperation between us, especially cooperation to answer current issues such as global energy, climate change, and so on. In particular, I really hope that together we can collaborate to answer the same problem for the people on the island of Kalimantan,” hoped Prof. Garuda Wiko.
On the same occasion, the Rector of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, Prof. Dato Dr. Jamil bin Hamali expressed his gratitude for the remarks given. “I am moved and grateful for the welcome given,” he said. Prof. Dato Jamil also said that his arrival with the group was to strengthen the cooperation that had been going well. “We have come to establish cooperation to improve. Cooperation can be in the form of student exchanges for at least two weeks, so that students can exchange knowledge, social, and cultural in an effort to build our Borneo,” he said. He also added that cooperation can also be in the form of further study scholarships at UiTM for Untan graduates. In fact, according to him, Untan graduates who are studying at UiTM will be able to teach at UiTM. “Advanced study students can also work as a lecturer during the study process,” he explained.
On this occasion, the Rector of UiTM also hoped for the presence of the Rector of Untan at the UiTM Campus as well as inviting him to be able to attend joint conferences that have been routinely held for the past 14 years. Present with the Rector of UiTM included Deputy Rector (Academic Affairs & Internationalization), Deputy Rector (Academic Affairs & Internationalization); Assistant Rector (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Mukah Branch), Assoc. Prof. Abdul Razak Abdul Kadir; Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saimi Bujang; Head of Centre of Graduate Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ellen Chung; Coordinator Office of International Affairs, Miss Wan Juliana Emeih Wahed, and others.
