In the wake of technology and digitalization, the needs of understanding global culture should be sharpened by communication, intra-personal skills, and literacy. To address the academic culture of research and literacy, on September, 23rd 2019, an alumnae of Queen’s University Belfast invited Dr. Ibrar Bhatt in a seminar titled “Researching Digital Literacy and Language Learning” conducted at Language Center of Universitas Tanjungpura. The seminar went well with participants from Universitas Tanjungpura and Widya Dharma Campus of Pontianak.
Thus, the International Affairs Office of Universitas Tanjungpura saw an opportunity to initiate a partnership with Queen’s University Belfast for further possibility of collaboration. There were a general lecture and a scholarship information session conducted on October, 30 2019. A meeting between Lorna Lawther BN, Ph.D. RN RM from Queen’s University Belfast with the Dean of Untan’s Faculty of Medicine dr. Muhammad Asroruddin, Sp.M was done afterwards to discuss the partnership through Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
The International Affairs Office of Universitas Tanjungpura assisted the plan by drafting the MoA between the two universities. As of now, the draft is being discussed by the Queen’s University Belfast.
