The 23 November 2020 will be another historical moment for UPT Bahasa Universitas Tanjungpura. On this sunny afternoon, the Premium Student Union is inaugurated and has its grand opening. Madam Stella, the Chair of UPT Bahasa, said “the existence of Student Union here is to provide an international space to encourage students, lecturers, and staffs to learn foreign cultures and language with FUN, where we can do a light discussion or enjoy our time while reading and learning foreign cultures here at premium student union”.
The Grand Opening was followed by activities and demonstrations of cultures around the world. At the same time as the grand opening ceremony, there was also a thanksgiving celebration hosted by American Corner of Untan and Chanson Pour Mieux Apprenre Le Francaise hosted by Kedai Prancis of Untan.
Later on 24 and 25 November, there will be other interesting activities from American Corner and Kedai Prancis. Meanwhile, on 26 and 27 November, the event will be enlivened by Japan Corner that will share about the cultures and academic life in Japan. Last but not least, on 30 November to 1 December, British Culture and Learning Centre (BCLC) of Untan will present Expérience Britannique d’un jour and a sharing session about students A-Z in the UK.

After this series of events, the committee will run the business as usual, running the place from 9 to 5. The Premium Student Union of Untan is located acroos the Universitas Tanjungpura Hospital and next to UPT Bahasa. During the pandemic, it is open by complying to the health protocol where you will be greeted by a waiter with hand sanitizer when entering the Premium Student Union. Chairs and tables are also spaced according to the rules. While the maximum capacity of people for this place is 70 people, for the sake of health and safety during the pandemic, they limited the max capacity to 30 people only.
The Premium Student Union provides you with delicacies from American, British, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and French cuisines. Here, you can get a lot information regarding student exchanges program and use computers connected to thousands of international articles and books to read. There are also locally-made books that have won competitions which you cannot buy out there. You can even do a small group discussion in the VIP room and a meeting for 15-40 people in the family room. Last but not least, you can do karaoke for free here by having a minimum order of Rp 25,000. In short, tons of things you can do here, learning cultures and languages with fun. So what are you waiting for? Come to feel the fun yourself in Premium Student Union!
