Established in 2008, the Chinese Language Education Study Program of Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Universitas Tanjungpura is the only Chinese Language Education Study Program in West Kalimantan. Accredited B by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education, this study program has thirteen lecturers, of which six are native speakers. This study program requires 144 credits distributed into 136 compulsory credits and 8 elective credits. The curriculum is designed to cover 55% of language skills courses, 16% teaching skills courses, 12% other skills courses (ICT, English Language, etc.), 11% elective courses, and 6% general courses. The quality of this study program is continuously increased through the use of multi-media and internet-based instructional media. Additionally, the university’s Chinese Language Center (Confucius Institute) supports the study program by providing access to electronic library and learning media as well as scholarship to overseas institutions. Our students have recorded a number of achievements both at national and international level. Regularly, the graduates earn best graduate achievement at the university’s convocation. After finishing the study, our graduates are employed as Chinese language teachers, translators, or other professions related to Chinese language relatively in a short period of time.
