Master Study Program of English Language Education, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Tanjungpura, was established in 2012 (Ministerial Decree of Education and Culture with Ref. No. of 280/E/O/2012). The vision of this study program is to become a qualified and competent Master program that produces the educators and the researchers in the field of English language education who are superior, professional, competitive, and noble at the national and international level.
The aims are (1) to produce teaching staffs and other professionals holding Master degree in the field of English language education, who are devoted to God Almighty, superior, skilled, creative, innovative, independent, trustworthy, accountable, and responsible with national and international insight on the basis of local wisdom, (2) to produce teaching staffs and other professionals holding Master degree in the field of English language education who are qualified in designing, implementing, and evaluating English education programs at various educational level, both formal and non-formal and are able to integrate, to apply and to develop knowledge of English language education in addressing the school-based problems, and are able to deliver a real contribution to the government in improving English language education, (3) to produce studies in the field of English language education for the public benefits and to solve the nation’s problems that are worthy of being published at the national, regional and international level, (4) to disseminate innovation and creativity in the field of English language education in schools and communities through community service activities, and (5) to build and develop various collaborations in the English language education sectors with educational institutions, research centers, government agencies, industry, or other institutions, both nationally and internationally. To complete the program, the students undertake the learning activities equivalent to 36 credits taken during the 2-4 years study period. They are also trained to deliver academic speeches at the national and international conferences and to write scientific papers for national and international publication through reputable journals. Finally, the students receive thesis-related intensive supervisory services from the academic adviser and thesis supervisor to complete their studies on time.
