The Undergraduate Program of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) is one of the most popular study programs in Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Tanjungpura as it has a “B” accreditation. The Primary School Teacher Education Study Program was established in 2006 as a manifestation of concern for educational issues that have emerged in line with the development pace and the change in society in Indonesia. The Primary School Teacher Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Tanjungpura aims to yield (1) professional prospective elementary school teachers, (2) qualified researchers and educational developers in primary school studies, (3) potential and proficient teachers in applying Science and Technology in instructional activities in primary schools regarding to the values of Indonesian Philosophy (Pancasila) and cultural diversity, (4) potential elementary school instructors in performing the social learning concept in their environment with diverse program activities, (5) competitive graduates that have innovative insights and capabilities to guide and to overcome students’ learning difficulties, (6) scientific preservation in knowledge and primary school education studies characterized by West Kalimantan’s cultural diversity through scientific investigations, and (7) competent graduates in collaborating with relevant stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Based on the rules, the curriculum of the Undergraduate Study Program of Primary School Teacher Education covers 8 semesters (4 years) with a total of 145 credits. However, students have the opportunity to complete their studies in 7 semesters (3.5 years). To support the implementation of learning in primary schools, compulsory and elective courses taken by students consist of theory and practice. The courses presented have accommodated the balance between conceptual and practical abilities development required by the working world. In addition, students are also equipped with the ability to be a companion to extracurricular activities in primary schools.
