The Performing Arts Study Program, Faculty of Teachers Training and Education of Universitas Tanjungpura is one of the first two Art Education Study Programs established in Kalimantan. First run in 2008 under the Decree of Director-General of Higher Education No 2783/D/T/2008, this Study Program was named Dance and Music Education and in 2017 under the Rector’s Decree No 3420/UN22/DL/2017 it became Performing Arts Study Program. Accredited B by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Decree No 5063/SK/BAN-PT/ Akred/S/XII/2017), this Study Program aims to train art teachers in music and dance at high school level. In addition, the graduates are developed to be able to enter the profession of practitioners, entrepreneurs, or critics in arts. To achieve that, the curriculum is designed through general, educational, expertise, and supporting subjects/courses both in theory and practice. The expertise courses will focus on exploring local culture through traditional art courses, music and dance, by inviting local practitioners as instructors. This study program requires 144 credits for eight semesters with a possibility to graduate in less than eight semesters.
