The Sociology Education Master Program as one of the education master programs at the Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Tanjungpura in Pontianak was established based on the Decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number: 348/E/O/2014 and accredited by BAN PT with Decree number: 4175/SK/BAN- PT/AKRED/M/X /2017 with the value of accreditation “B” dated 31-10-2017 to 2022. This study program has graduated four batches and the alumni have worked in various organizations, institutions, both public and private as well as individual private businesses. After graduating from this study program alumni have the competencies: 1. Educate and teach the field of sociology at the junior and senior high levels; 2. Intermediate researchers in the fields of sociology education, sociology and other social sciences; 3. Sociopreneur. The program courses are 4 Semester Credit Hours (two years), although students have the opportunity to finish the courses within 3 SCH (1.5 years), with a study load of 44 credits (including a thesis). Lectures are given theoretically and through scientific practice. To enrich students’ knowledge and provide additional scoring, students choose an elective course provided by the study program. In the contingency condition, lectures are conducted through e-learning (synchronous and asynchronous), especially in enriching and prioritizing local wisdom studies. The subject of border study and border policy analysis is one of the student choices that can inspire students in their thesis research. As an added value, students are given the opportunity to study comparatively to other tertiary institutions nationally and internationally.
